Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as a Commission on the Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Accreditation Manager in the Accreditation Section of the Planning and Research Division. The position will direct and coordinate all activities associated with the Department wide Accreditation program. The position will manage personnel to ensure that it effectively gathers 'proofs' of CALEA standards. These 'proofs' document the Department's adherence to policies and national best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years experience in the management of an administrative staff or professional work, to include organizational accreditation and or certification of performance standards.

NOTE: Additional experience in the management of an administrative staff or professional work, related law enforcement experience or prior military experience in management services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Experience working with federal, state, county or local government entities at the managerial and or executive levels developing and implementing policy.

2) Managerial experience in law enforcement or public safety in the areas of inspection, compliance and/or accreditation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for positions in this classification are subject to a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process for this recruitment will involve a review of each application. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy. The eligibility list will be valid for one year.
