Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to plan, organize, schedule, assign, direct, control, and coordinate the Statewide Vital Records program of the State of Maryland. This position provides overall management of services to the general public in registering, researching and reproducing birth, death, marriage and divorce records as well as legitimations and adoptions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 6 years of professional health or human services experience, including 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience.

A master’s degree will substitute for one year of general experience.  Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the bachelor’s degree.  A doctorate will substitute for two years of general experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired candidates will possess:

  • Experience with Maryland vital records registration and issuance processes;
  • Experience managing a large organization responsible for oversight and collection of State fees; and,
  • Familiarity with Maryland statutes and regulations related to vital records.
