Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this part-time (approximately 10-12 hours per week) contractual position is to serve as the Executive Director and oversee the administrative operation of the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.  Job duties include:  Implementing decisions of the Board, including all correspondence and agendas; Overseeing the credentialing and renewal process for licensure; Supervising Board staff and overseeing all personal matters; Administration of the Board's budget; and, representing the Board with Maryland agencies, commissions, other State Boards, the Legislature and the general public.


Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 6 years of professional experience in health care policy, public health, health care administration or closely related field, including 2 years of experience at a supervisory or managerial level.

 A Master's degree or JD will substitute for 2 years of experience in health care policy, public health, health care administration or related field.


The desired candidate should have experience working for a Board of Directors and possess experience with legislative and fiscal initiatives and experience creating regulations and mandates.  The candidate should also possess knowledge of investigations and reports in the health field; licensing procedures.   Past budget experience is preferred.   


This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
