Main Purpose of Job
The Director of Psychology provides leadership and administrative and clinical supervision to members of the Psychology Department, fulfills administrative duties assigned by the Clinical Director, holds membership on the hospital clinical and executive committees, and collaborates with other departments and programs to deliver assessment and treatment services to forensic patients, most of whom reside in a maximum security facility. The primary purpose of the position is to direct, coordinate and supervise the delivery of psychology services including pre-trial evaluation's to the hospital. The Director also conducts pre-trial evaluations, completes evaluation reports in a timely manner and provides testimony related to the evaluation as needed.
Requires a Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited college or university acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists and five (5) years of experience rendering psychological services, including three years post-doctorate clinical experience and two years of supervisory experience.
The incumbent must obtain a current Maryland license to practice as a Psychologist from the Board prior to appointment.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Candidates must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may also apply pending receipt of the required license.
