The Comptroller of Maryland is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Deputy Director of Human Resources. This position is required to take a hands-on approach in leading the department's support services teams to provide exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers. The Deputy Director will report to the Director of Human Resources and oversee day-to-day operational management of the department. The incumbent Deputy Director will be second in line for all full-scope human resource and State Personnel Management System issues for the Comptroller of Maryland, Board of Public Works, and Register of Wills employees. Candidates must have a firm understanding and working knowledge of employment law, including COMAR regulations and State Personnel and Pensions Code. Excellent organization, written and verbal communication and time management skills are required as well as exceptional managerial expertise.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Five years of experience working in all functional areas of Human Resources with a path of progress responsibility.
NOTE: Candidates may substitute relevant post graduate education on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.(Examples of relevant post-graduate experience include a Masters degree in Human Resources, HR Management, HR Administration, Public Policy with a focus in Human Resources, or Master's or Juris Doctorate in Labor Management.)
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Five years of experience working in Employee Relations/Employment Law
- Three years experience working with Federal and State regulations including, but not limited to, FMLA, ADA and HIPPA
- Three years of management experience
- Three years experience working in the public sector
