Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Network Administration:
- Researches and makes recommendations for improving network functions, security, and delivery of services.
- Maintains JSE network and related services in accordance with policy. Ensures maximum uptime and performance of the LANs and their servers to ensure maximum educational progress.
- Attends MSDE OIT management meetings.
- Manage all organization user accounts and ensure privileges are at appropriate levels. Ensure anti-virus systems are in place and kept up to date.
- Systems Administration Support:
- Assists in the identification of future information system needs of the organization. Manage recurrent technology budget items.
- Maintains an up-to date software audit and license database.
- Attends MSDE OIT management meetings and maintain a working relationship with MSDE and DJS CIOs.
- Assists in the development and implementation of policies and directions of Information and Communications Technology.
- Instructional Support:
- Researches and reviews available educational software and hardware.
- Works with teachers and coordinators to assess and evaluate educational software to project future needs.
- Computer Support:
- Engages in a proactive role by regularly contacting all main users of computer equipment to discuss their educational suitability and outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include coursework in systems and developmental tools.
Experience: Two years of experience planning, installing and maintaining devices; evaluating, implementing and maintaining computer hardware and software.
Notes:
1. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology related field to include coursework in systems analysis and applications programming using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for the required experience.
2. An additional year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages may be substituted for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience with the functions and capabilities of local or wide area computer network hardware, such as cables and other transmission media, connectors, communications devices, multi-station access units, file servers, printers, disk drives, network cards and emulators; .
2. Experience in configuring local or wide area computer network software and hardware for efficient and effective network performance;
3. Experience in adjusting local or wide area computer network components and in diagnosing and correcting network software and hardware problems;
4. Skill in adjusting local or wide area computer network components and in diagnosing and correcting network software and hardware problems;
5. Ability to communicate and establish and maintain effective working relationships with network users, vendor representatives and customer engineers.
