Introduction

Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only statewide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.

Main Purpose of Job

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing varied and complex administrative duties, data generation and analysis, and project assistance in support of the HR team. The nature of the position often involves executive-level contacts and exposure to sensitive information necessitating considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment.  

This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Preparing various reports
  • Executing data requests
  • Analyzing and compiling data from HR systems
  • Preparing metrics dashboards
  • Supporting the HR business partners in executing employee data changes
  • Provide support to projects and key initiatives
  • Interact with many different levels within the company to accomplish tasks including routine HR administrative functions
  • Collect and compile sensitive and confidential information to prepare reports
  • Perform other tasks as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: Must have at least two (2) years of administrative and/or HR experience to include demonstrated project management and presentation skills.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualifications.     

  • Experience working with HRIS systems; preferably Workday
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, well-organized, reliable and detail-oriented
  • Ability to function effectively in an environment of change and balance completing priorities
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently to complete assigned tasks, and have effective and clear verbal and written communication skills

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
