MPT Program Manager

Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only statewide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.

The purpose of this position is to create the broadcast schedule on MPT & MPT2, as well as MPT's other distribution platforms. This includes scheduling MPT's two HD channels. This person will work closely with Traffic Department, Pledge Programming, Content and Creative Services departments. This position will be a program scheduler, and will manage the input and upkeep of programs within the current ProTrack software.

 This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

• Use the ProTrack database to schedule programs, be aware of feed dates and times, track licenses and their start and end dates.
• Make informed decisions when scheduling the channels based upon program performance, ratings, availability. 
• Effectively manage and schedule MPT's inventory of content including tracking and implementing the required common carriage scheduling.
• Develop and distribute program schedules, schedule updates and ratings information to staff in a timely manner through monthly program grid meetings and daily ratings emails.

Education: Bachelor's degree in film, media, mass communications, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Five years of experience in television production, programming and audience/market research with a working knowledge of the public broadcasting system and an emphasis on its programming and producing standards and practices.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
