MEA is seeking an experienced self-starter administrative assistant professional to join our admin team in providing support to the agency in all the administrative functions.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • coverage for agency reception, greet and direct persons visiting the agency, prepare conference rooms for meetings;
  • administrative and clerical support to multiple persons;
  • answer telephone, screening and directing calls;
  • prepare formal correspondence and recurring reports;
  • create and/or modify documents using Microsoft Office;
  • provide data entry support;
  • archive documents (must be able to lift and move a box weighing 20lbs.)
  • track physical inventory;
  • receive and sort mail and deliveries;
  • schedule appointments; organize staff meetings, board meetings, etc.

 This position will also will also include other duties as assigned and will report to the Director of Finance and Administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of administrative support or clerical experience that includes experience with procedures and processes, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Notes: Work experience in a general administrative field may be substituted on a year for year basis for the education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to mult-task

Ability to efficiently manage conflicting priorities

Knowledge of database applications (such as Access or  SalesForce)

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
