Main Purpose of Job

The Office of Oral Health (OOH) supports a comprehensive portfolio of programs and services designed to improve the oral health of Maryland residents, through expanded service access and increased quality of care. This position will provide oral health education and case management services to children and adults who reside within counties on Maryland's Eastern Shore. This position will also be responsible for developing networks within community groups, schools, dental providers, and local health departments, in order to coordinate the integration and delivery of multifaceted oral health services for children and adults with limited incomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education or Health Science.

Experience: One year of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects.

Notes: 

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, Health Science, or a related behavioral science, and two years of experience planning, developing, implementing, and promoting health education projects, for the required education and experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications, or Health Educator and Community Health specialty codes in the Public Health field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have professional experience with community health education, as well as experience with case management and/or coordination.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
