Introduction

The Department of Labor, (MDOL), Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of UI Professional III. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. All candidates must meet the minimum qualifications during the time apply. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

POSITION DUTIES

The UI Professional III will execute tasks and responsibilities associated with federal and state funded programs pertaining to Maryland Unemployment Insurance, Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA), Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistance (RTAA), and Work Sharing Programs. The UI Professional  III will provides technical guidance for the State of Maryland special unemployment compensation programs in compliance with the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) regulations and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applications that meet the minimum and selective qualifications will be referred to the hiring manager for interview selection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for interview.

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. 

Experience: 2 years of experience in a public/or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program or other programs. 

Note: Applicants may substitute additional experience in unemployment insurance as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for one year of education, for up to four years of the required education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

1. Customer service experience. 
2. Data entry experience.

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Proficient in Microsoft Excel 
2. Experience working with and interpreting unemployment insurance laws and regulations

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (MDOL/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to MDOL/DUI as a result of unemployment insurance overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

U.S. Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. Any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing a U.S. Military form DD 214 verifying honorable discharge from service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview). Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of Veterans’ status.
