POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of the Auditor's position with the Central Repository Unit is to interface with other Agency's Criminal History Information systems to ensure that each record contains: all known arrest disposition, prints are complete and accurate, and that security is being maintained on the Criminal History Record Information (CHRI). They will assemble and verify data and compile detailed documentation to conduct audits of criminal, non-criminal and private provider agencies throughout the State of Maryland and be able to quantify and verbalize research results and recommendations such that logical, legal decisions can be made concerning the management of criminal history.

Plans, conducts and finalizes audit reports, while applying Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Security Policies, and Federal Laws as it pertains to auditing CHRI. 

Responds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems; reviews, verifies, interprets and edits information related to inaccuracies and discrepancies in the CHRI database in accordance with applicable procedures, policies, regulations and laws. 

Uses equipment properly abiding by Agency's and all Office policies, regulations and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1 Year Experience working with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) systems.  

1 Year Experience in auditing or similar investigations/inspections experience.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position is limited to permanent and Contractual employees working for the department of public safety & correctional services (DPSCS).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate will be responsible for driving a MD State issue car as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.  In order to be eligible to drive a State vehicle a driver must have a driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland and appropriate for the class of vehicle driven and have five (5) or fewer points on his/her current driving record.
