POSITION DUTIES

To provide administrative support to the Child Support Supervisors and staff. Acts as intermediary with the customers, staff of the State's Attorney Office, Private Attorneys and professional staff of the Child Support Enforcement Administration and the Department of Social Services. Receives telephone calls and contacts customers, foreign court / child support agencies to request necessary documents for child support cases. Documentation of direct payment, temporary or prior orders needed in determining correct arrears balance and support obligation amount. Position requires knowledge of Federal, State, local laws and policies. In addition, this position requires high level of communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to establish and implement office procedures. Attention to detail and excellent documentation skills are required. Job Duties: Maintains/records closed files by preparing records for retention or destruction monthly. Receives requests from the credit bureaus to investigate and respond to customers disputes of child support arrears. Reviews and analysis a child support case to determine what documents and requests must be made to a Foreign Court/ Agency. Acts as back up to Secretary Unit, Taking over reception duties when reception staff is out or unavailable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s).  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
 
1. One year of experience providing secretarial support.
2. One year of experience working with Microsoft Word and Google Suite.
3. One year of experience interacting with customers in an office setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.  You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire.  The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process.  Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.
