POSITION DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of the sixth grade.
Experience: Two years of experience in grounds keeping or buildings and grounds maintenance work.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in general maintenance classifications or cemetery caretaking specialty codes in the general maintenance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in supervision of grounds and
maintenance workers.
Experience in cemetery maintenance and
equipment.
Experience with the application of fertilizers
and pesticides.
Experience in the maintenance of manual and
power grounds keeping equipment.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification may be required to apply and store pesticides. Such employees shall use or apply pesticides in compliance with Maryland State pesticide regulations and licensing requirements.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a
copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential
evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.
Successful candidates will be ranked as Best
Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment
(eligible) list for at least one year. The resulting certified eligible
list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other
State agencies.
