Introduction

IMMEDIATE OPENINGS - This is a seasonal position, August - October 2020.

40 hours/week anticipated, night shift.  Note:  hours may vary due to weather and other factors.  This is contractual employment and workers are paid for actual hours worked only.

+ $.625/hour night shift differential paid where applicable.

LOCATION OF POSITION

Work is assigned from the Eastern Shore Regional Mosquito Control Office in Salisbury, Maryland.

There are two openings:

1 Opening - to operate a ULV Spray Truck in Dorchester County

1 Opening - to operate a ULV Spray Truck in Worcester County

Main Purpose of Job

Assist with mosquito control surveillance and control activities in Dorchester County and Worcester County, Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

JOB DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Handling, mixing and applying pesticides
  • Safe operation of department vehicle and spray equipment
  • Record keeping
  • Interaction with the public

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Each candidate must be at least 18 years of age and possess a driver's license valid in Maryland, with no more than 5 points on the candidate's driving record.  High School Diploma or GED required.

SELECTION PROCESS

All information concerning your qualifications must be submitted by the closing date. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible (employment) list for at least one year.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
