POSITION DUTIES

This position provides administrative and secretarial support to the Medical Relations Office (MRO).

Provides support to the Medical Relations Office's electronic medical evidence (EME) initiatives. Review agency electronic database for failed electronic outbound requests (EOR) transmissions for Medical Evidence Record (MER) Requests and consultative examinations (CE) authorizations. Resolves problems related to the electronic submission of reports through (electronic records express) ERE website and fax. Notify operations staff if request needs to be submitted manually. Maintains a database of ERE transmission problems. Assists providers with ERE website. Provides assistance to Operations staff by searching and printing problem CE reports from ERE website and EME database. Prepares correspondence to claimants and medical providers. Develops and maintains various databases. Prepares presentation packets. Orders & maintains up to date reference materials. Coordinates CE's for incarcerated claimants Schedules claimant transportation for CE's. Updates and maintains Operations Resource Manual. Assists with annual Medicare fee schedule changes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes: 1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience using an electronic case management software program.

2. Experience in tracking and distributing confidential information in a timely manner.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Individuals selected for positions with the Maryland State Department of Education's Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete Tier 2 federal background investigation.  A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.
