Grant Administration Specialist (Contractual)

The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a talented, motivated professional to function as the Grant Administration Specialist within the Business Enterprise Administration’s Capital Grants & Loans Division.  The Grant Administration Specialist will be responsible for processing and administering a caseload of assigned Capital Grants including preparing grant agreements, beneficiary agreements and Board of Public Works agenda items.  This position will serve as the primary point of contact for communicating the status of assigned projects to legislators/sponsors and other State agencies.  This position will also assist with creating and maintaining electronic tracking logs as well as managing the migration of data from the Capital Grants legacy Excel database to SurveyMonkey.  This position will assist with the preparation of status reports and PowerPoint presentations for workshops and training seminars.     

Note: This is a contractual (hourly) position, with an annual renewal option available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

- Four (4) years of professional office administrative experience required, preferably in one or more of the following areas:

  • grants administration,
  • compliance specialist, or
  • as a paralegal assistant.

- Experience utilizing Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint in a professional setting.  

 

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS:

- Exceptional communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and functions.

- Proven experience in either administering grants, as a Compliance Specialist or as a Paralegal Assistant.  

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
