POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent in this position functions as the Administrator Officer I for the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO) of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Provides clerical processing of all incoming Title VII Discrimination, Sexual Harassment. Workplace Bullying and Americans w/Disabilities Act (ADA) complaints; maintains and monitors the OEO’s Case Tracking System (CTS); assists with the maintenance of the CTS. Answers incoming calls, assists with walk-ins providing general information on the process for filing complaints, completion of forms etc.

 

Organizes and maintains manual office filing system, copy machine, shredder etc. Performs all functions related to the office mail - conducts daily mail runs, logs and disperses; maintains the photocopier calls for repair; maintains and orders all office supplies

 

Assists with the overall preparation of the department’s EEO Annual Report for submission to the Department of Budget and Management and the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights; and assist with preparing any other reports as needed by compiling date, formulation the final report(s) and mailing them.

 

Coordinates and monitors quarterly statistical data submission from agencies with the Department, and help incorporate that information into the annual departmental EEO Report.

 

Responds to verbal and at times electronic inquiries and requests for information regarding matters within the scope of their duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Experience utilizing an information tracking system to monitor and track cases.

2.  Experience maintaining and organizing and office filing system.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
