Main Purpose of Job

This position will lead, support, monitor, and coordinate a wide range of complex strategic health policy and planning activities related to the inclusion of those experiencing disparities and disabilties within Public Health and Chronic Disease Prevention and Control programs. This positon will also provide support to a disabilities grant. The incumbent should be skilled and experienced in addressing disparities, as he/she will build and coordinate inclusion activities within new and existing programs in the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)'s Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA)'s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (CCDPC). 

Additionally, this positon will work to increase disability inclusion and awareness in chronic disease and other public health programming within the State of Maryland. Furthermore, this position will assure the inclusion of underserved populations into all chronic disease programs in the CCDPC, as well as into all support programs in the Cancer and Chronic Disease Bureau (CCDB). This position will provide ongoing grant and budget management of this project, in addition to contract management and technical assistance to partners. 

Finally, this position will serve as the Coordinator of at least one grant that will focus on disabilities support. As the Coordinator, this position will be responsible for meeting all grant and program deliverables (reports, continuation grants and budgets).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Counseling, or a related field.   

Experience: Six years of professional experience in health services, three years of which must have been in health services professional clinical or administrative services, in areas other than Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities or Addictions, and two years of which must have been at the managerial or supervisory level.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree or a Doctorate degree in a health or human services field from an accredited college or university for up to two years of the required general experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field, plus an additional year of professional experience in health services, for the required education. 

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Health Services Administration specialty codes in the health-related field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have public health experience, as well as experience working with disparate and priority populations. He/she should also have experience working with organizations addressing disabilities inclusion in health programming.
