Introduction

This position is located in the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center, a maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital, where care is provided to mentally ill offenders, patients or residents who have been judged not criminally responsible for committing felonies, and to those who are too violent for a regular hospital or residential setting and who have been deemed dangerous to themselves or others.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide occupational therapy assessment, evaluation and treatment services to forensic psychiatric patients at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center.

Job duties assigned to this position include, but are not limited to:

  • providing occupational therapy treatment services to include ward and referred programming
  • completing required documentation, including progress notes, using approved standard procedures
  • skilled and timely completion of assessments and evaluations
  • participating in assigned teams, committees, task, work groups, and student training

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice under the licensing requirements for Occupational Therapists.

Experience: One year of experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Therapy classifications or Therapy specialty codes in the Occupation Therapy field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Maryland State Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, 55 Wade Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21228.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).
