This facility is two and half hours from Baltimore, MD.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position is to provide work training, work adjustment services, and to meet the general education needs, in the areas of rehabilitation, for mentally ill patients and /or developmentally disabled patients. Doing so within a pre-vocational development work program and/or other basic educational groups. The program is designed to support the organization through active participation and by providing basic instruction in areas of learning for the patients. Including basic education interests, job skills, and/or computer skills necessary for employment and healthy pursuits outside of the facility. Treatment is geared to the individual treatment plan to address the hospital’s focus areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in health services, human services, education or the behavioral sciences.

Experience: One year of experience providing work placement, work training, and work adjustment services to mentally ill patients or developmentally disabled clients in a pre-vocational development program. 

Note:

1. Additional experience as specified above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Career Counseling and Advisor classifications or Career Counseling and Advisor specialty codes in the Counseling field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. 

2. Employees in some positions may be required to operate vehicles which require a Class C motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland. The appropriate motor vehicle operator’s license will be required. 

3. Persons appointed to positions in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in and, therefore, may be required to provide the facility with a phone number where they can be reached.
