Main Purpose of Job
To provide technical direction, project management and support in the analysis and development of complex computer based multi-user systems. This position supports program administration through the development of unique database systems to assist in policy compliance, quality control, and management of the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services.
POSITION DUTIES
JOB DUTIES: Design, develop, test, document and implement automated projects. Complete project documentation such as workflow diagrams, flowcharts and timelines. Create database designs; write program code, test, and debug using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages and tools used by the agency. Upgrade existing databases to stay current with State requirements. Collect and analyze data to produce reports and maps that maximize the agency's ability to make informed program decisions. Data sources include in-house, county, and State sources. Address reporting/policy requirements essential in providing service to the community as dictated by State, county, and local policies. Maintain automated systems throughout their lifecycle. Monitor databases for fiscal year archiving, data integrity and value of continued use. Set up automated procedures for updates and compliance of policy. Document all database changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. One year of experience in computer programming such as SQL Server and/or ACCESS.
2. One year of experience with developing web-based systems such as ASP.NET and/or VBS Script.
3. One year of experience in Microsoft SQL Server or ACCESS.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification may be subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached. Employees may be furnished with a pager or cell phone.
