Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as a Food Service Worker/Driver and will be responsible for the delivery of bulk/tray food and related supplies to the client population and retrieval of soiled utensils meeting established time constrains on the Spring Grove Hospital Center's campus. The position will perform tasks associated with the assembly and distribution of patient meals to assure the tray is assembled and distributed to the correct patient, while maintaining all food safety and sanitation requirements. This is measured by the skilled operation of a motor vehicle, in which deliveries of bulk/tray food and related supplies are delivered to the client population and retrieval of soiled wares within established timelines. Work performed in central kitchen may require employees to work in areas of extreme heat and cold and moving and stacking heavy and bulky food commodities. Employees in this classification are required to work evenings, weekends and holidays and may be assigned to one of two shifts and may be subject to call-in.

Duties assigned to his position include, but are not limited to:

  • operating a motor vehicle to transport food and related supplies to various client areas to make sure the client's food arrives in established timeframes
  • preparing food trays for transportation by stacking and strapping them on a flatbed truck
  • delivering and loading food trays into retherm carts and picking up soiled trays and returning to Central Kitchen
  • assembling and preparing client snacks and nourishments by assembling items needed and manually filling orders and refrigerating them until ready for transport
  • performing sanitation duties as required (i.e., emptying trash cans, dish room assignments, mopping floors, operating cardboard baler)
  • delivering and picking up departmental correspondence

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  None.

Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have experience working in a kitchen or cafeteria, preparing food trays and delivering meals.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
