Main Purpose of Job
The Career Programs and Grants Specialist is responsible for providing leadership and technical assistance to local school systems, community colleges, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations associated with career and technical education (CTE); includes managing federal Perkins grants; supporting the development of CTE programs; monitoring the implementation of CTE programs; providing technical assistance to grant recipients; facilitating statewide meetings for local school systems, community colleges, and industry representatives; and collaborating with representatives from industry, higher education, and other groups to inform the continuous improvement of CTE.
One year of experience with Career and Technical Education - grants management, or state or local-level education program administration.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and issues impacting career and technical education (CTE); knowledge of the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V), Code of Maryland Regulation 13A.04.02, Maryland CTE Four-Year State Plan, and Maryland Methods of Administration Plan; knowledge of effective grant management practices; skill in organizing and managing multiple projects, timelines, and deadlines; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders; and ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment in making decisions.
