Main Purpose of Job
This is a part-time clinical level position with the Division of Rehabilitation Services, Rehabilitation Technology Services Program that specializes in the application of computer based and other assistive technologies that when applied, promote employment, economic self-sufficiency and/or independence of individuals with disabilities.
Responsible for performing assistive technology services in the Rehabilitation Technology Services Department. Perform detailed and comprehensive clinical assessments of individuals with disabilities to determine potential need for and benefit from computer based and other assistive technology. Provide assessments of home, training and work sites to determine most appropriate application of assistive technology and related accommodation strategies. Performs the following Assistive Technology Support Services and Training for individuals with disabilities, as appropriate: Setup and configure computer systems and related assistive technology. Conduct group and/or individual orientation and assistive technology hardware/software training. This position provides technical assistance to DORS rehabilitation counselors for the Office of Blind and Vision Services and Office of Field Services. Performs case management duties and completes required documentation including written reports.
Possession of a Bachelor's degree.
Two years of administrative, librarian, teaching or rehabilitation work in education, library or rehabilitation programs.
Additional experience as defined above directly related to the position may be substituted for the required Bachelor’s degree at the rate of one year of experience for one year.
Possession of a Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

Experience with Assistive Technologies, including but not limited to magnifiers, Screen Magnification and Screen Reading programs, Standalone Readers, cognitive or learning software and/or devices, Smart pens and other note taking options, and physical access software and devices.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Commercial Technologies, software, and their accessibility settings, including but not limited to MAC OS, Apple iOS, Android, Windows OS, Microsoft Office and Internet Browsers.
Experience with installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and training on assistive technology.
Certifications such as RESNA’s Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), ACVREP’s Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist for People with Visual Impairments (CATIS), or certificate/degree’s in AT or Special Education such as CSUN’s Assistive Technology Applications Certificate Program (ATACP).
