LOCATION OF POSITION

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to organize and oversee the production of MCE product(s) in a metal manufacturing and fabrication facility.

The MCE Plant Manager at the Metal Plant:

  • Plans and schedules production operations and contracts. 
  • Coordinates the delivery of finished product to customers.
  • Prepare proposals for contracts and evaluate current methods being used for production efficiency.
  • Briefs subordinates on changes in Maryland Correctional Enterprises Policies etc.
  • Establishes and maintains a uniform production and inmate training record system.
  • The incumbent will enforce Safety, Security and Fire regulations; as well as be able to review and take proper actions relative to inmate complaints and infractions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a standard High School or possession of a State High School Equivalence Certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board or Education as described in the Police and Correctional Training Commission Regulations.

Experience: Five years experience training and supervising welding, fabrication, design, or powder coat painting and experience forecasting production capacity within manufacturing areas in order to provide projected deliver dates.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel is preferred.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1) Experience with overseeing manufacturing operations to include the implementation of lean manufacturing, quality improvement plans, and preventative maintenance programs.

2) Experience with planning and scheduling metal production operations in coordination with multiple departments? Please describe your experience in detail. Include names of employers and dates of employment. If you do not have this experience, please enter N/A.

Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 or the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.

2) Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
