MDH, Cecil County Health Department, Elkton, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide oversight and direction to the Division of Environmental Health Services, including implementing State of Maryland laws and regulations in Cecil County under delegated authority from the Maryland Department of the Environment.  Job duties include: Staff supervision; Review and evaluation of current Environmental Health Programs; and, Coordination of local Environmental Health Programs with state and local government.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in biological, physical, environmental science or chemistry, and five years of experience managing environmental health programs.   

Applicants must be licensed as a Licensed Environmental Health Specialist through the Maryland State Board of Environmental Health Specialists.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable candidates should possess familiarity with State of Maryland environmental health laws.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be licensed as a Licensed Environmental Health Specialist through the Maryland State Board of Environmental Health Specialists.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.

The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work. Clearly indicate your college degree and major on your application, if applicable. For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
