Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Director of Governmental Affairs, Chief of Staff, and the Directors of Communications and as needed to the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and Program Directors, on a wide variety of State and local policy, legislative, regulatory, and budgetary issues that may have an impact on the Department of Health and its programs and services provided.


Qualified candidates must possess a Master Degree in Business, Public Health or Law (JD) and at least 4 years of experience with analyzing and advising on business processes, legislation and regulations, and other important issues, with at least 1 year of experience in state or local government.   

Candidates that currently possess a bachelor's degree and are presently working towards a master's degree in business, public health or law, may substitute 1 additional year of experience with analyzing and advising on business processes, legislation and regulations, and other important issues, for possession of the master's degree.


Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Ability to think independently; 
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in an understandable and persuasive manner; and,
  • Ability to assist in completion of special projects, as assigned, in a timely fashion.


This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
