This is a SPECIAL APPOINTMENT position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to manage the operations of the Police and Correctional Training Commissions Compliance Unit, conducting periodic audits of records maintained by client agencies for compliance of the Commissions regulations relating to the certification and training requirements of mandated law enforcement officers and mandated correctional personnel as required by Md. Public Safety Article and Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (COMAR) regulations.

POSITION DUTIES

Manage the Compliance Unit by overseeing and directing audits of law enforcement and correctional academies, employment and annual in-service training records of all law enforcement and correctional agencies to ensure compliance with the Commissions’ selection and training standards and, if necessary, corrections of deficiencies supporting compliance.

 

Overseeing the processing and preparation of narrative reports documenting the findings for each audit conducted.

 

Supervise processing for scheduling and notification to mandated law enforcement and mandated correctional agencies of audits.

 

Provide supervision to subordinate staff.

 

Perform other duties as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Five years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year- for-year basics for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicant must meet this selective qualification to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Two years experience in reviewing/interpreting/applying requirements of statutory regulations, policies, and procedures.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualification is preferred, not required:

 

Must have had experience reviewing or processing applications for licensing.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
