The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), is seeking an experienced and energetic individual to fill the position of Staff specialist II (Grants Management Manager) in their Office of Outreach and Grants.

Main Purpose of Job

The Grants Management Manager (GMM) works collaboratively with the Outreach & Grants Management (OGM) staff, Office of Student Financial Assistance staff, the Maryland State Department of Education, and others to support grant programs addressing college readiness, college access and success, and student financial literacy.  The GMM leads or assists with the development of agency grant applications (e.g., federal, foundation funding sources), manages assigned sub grant programs from pre- to post-award including but not limited to Request for Application development, Review Panel management, funding recommendations, fiscal management and all post award monitoring, data/report collection, and close out. The GMM provides technical assistance to faculty, staff, and other types of grantees to assist them with application development and successful project implementation. This position may lead grant project teams as assigned. The GMM represents MHEC on work groups or tasks forces and covers for the Executive Director in his/her absence as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree. 

Experience: Two years of administrative or teaching experience in post-secondary education programs. 

Notes: 

1. Possession of a master's degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience. 

2. Possession of a doctoral degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience must involve working directly with grants administration.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.
