LOCATION OF POSITION
MDH, Developmental Disabilities Administration, 312 Marshall Avenue, Laurel, MD
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position will be to process waiver applications for the Developmental Disabilities Administration’s (DDA) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Waivers in the Southern Maryland region in a timely fashion. HCBS Waivers provide community based services as an alternative to receiving services in an institutional setting for those who meet the institutional level of care. This position will also assist with monitoring Medicaid eligibility for those enrolled in one of the three HCBS waivers administered by the DDA.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.
Experience: Three years of professional experience in health services, two years of which must have been in professional work related to the support services and programs for developmentally disabled clients.
Notes: 1. Applicants may substitute a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human service field for one year of the required general experience.
2. Experience in the option must be as follows: professional work related to the support services and programs for developmentally disabled clients.
3. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one additional year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should have knowledge of DDA waiver programs, Person-Centered Planning Process and DDA funded services, experience utilizing spreadsheets to track information, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, customer service experience and organizational, written and oral skills.
