Main Purpose of Job

These are professional contractual positions responsible for providing psychological services to students in Maryland Local School Systems as assigned. Provides diagnostic assessments, participates in psychotherapeutic activities, and attends special education interdisciplinary Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings where necessary.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides direct care to a variety of children and adolescents and their families, through clinical service such as individual, group and family therapy; facilitates attainment of improved mental health and more effective social and family functioning; serves as  s as a primary therapist and case manager within a multidisciplinary team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

Experience: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists under the licensing requirements for Psychologists.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.       

One year of experience counseling students within a school setting.          

One year of experience supervising staff and training employees.        

One year of experience working with psychological concepts and special education eligibility criterDivia under IDEA.         

One year of experience interpreting assessment results to apply to IEPs

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for this classification must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to permanent appointment to a position.  Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may apply before receipt of the required license but the application will be designated in pending status by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Testing Unit.  When the license has been obtained, submit a copy of the license to MDH to remove the pending status from the application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
