POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent of this position will perform a variety of skilled photographic duties that require considerable experience in the type of work performed. This position will create and display commercial-quality photographs for use on The Comptroller of Maryland - Unclaimed Property Ebay website.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience in photographic laboratory work, including taking pictures.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute one year of training at a recognized school of photography for one year of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute photographic work experience on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required high school education.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Photography, Cameraman, or Mass Communications Specialist classifications or Photography, Journalism, or Visual Information Equipment Operator specialty codes in the Photography field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • General Knowledge of studio photography and table top lighting
  • Ability to edit digital photo files and process ebay & pay pal transactions
  • Familiar with platform ebay and online sales
  • Experience with photographing small items
  • Editing experience of photos
  • Editing experience of written online listings

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications for this recruitment will be considered for this opportunity. Approval of your application will be based on a review of your education, training and experience. It is essential that you submit complete and accurate information on your application in order to determine if you meet the qualifications as specified above. Due to the nature of this list, all qualified applicants are placed on an unranked list of candidates and will remain active on this list for at least one year.

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
