Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for writing and reviewing documents to ensure the clarity of their intent and that they present as a professional product to assist the Grants Unit in the Behavioral Health Administration. This involves creating and monitoring the flow of required documents for the awarding of funds. This requires a proven ability and expertise in writing and editing skills.

This position will also assist in the traffic flow of these required documents. This requires maintaining logs and other tracking systems to be able to identify the exact location of any of the myriad documents that are circulated for the review and approval of various MDH staff. This requires a proven ability of exceptional organizational skills to facilitate immediate and easy access to all documents. This position is to control all documentation, and assist in disseminating the information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three years of experience in grant evaluation and monitoring or budget preparation, presentation and execution.

Notes: 1. Applicants may substitute graduate education in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, political science or public administration at a rate of 30 semester hours for each year of the required experience. 

2. Applicants may substitute additional experience as defined above on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service  experience as a commissioned officer in the Budget Officer classifications or Financial Management specialty codes in the Budgeting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience with grant and budget management; creating formal written correspondence; developing process tracking tools; and utilizing MS Word, Excel and database software. Experience communicating both orally and in writing and maintaining working relationships also desired.
