Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide guidance, policy expertise, and other services to gubernatorally-appointed citizen review boards in one or more jurisdictions of the state. The boards conduct case reviews, monitor child welfare programs and makes recommendations for system improvement in order to enhance the management of individual children’s cases as well as the administration of the system as a whole. Goals are that children will be safe, be placed in stable, permanent living arrangements without undue delay; enjoy continuity of relationships; and have the opportunity to develop to their full potential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

 

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.


Experience: Three years of social casework experience providing professional community organization services in a child or adolescent services program or as an advocate in a child welfare program.


Notes:


1. Candidates may substitute additional social casework experience providing professional community organization services in a child or adolescent services program or as an advocate in a child welfare program on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute graduate credit hours in social work, community organization or public administration from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis for two years of the related experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1.  One year of experience reviewing and monitoring child welfare cases.

2.  One year of experience providing guidance,  policy expertise and jurisdictions with a state human service program.

3.  One year of experience working with senior level management.   

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification may be required to have daily use of a motor vehicle while on official State business. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.
