Introduction
This is a position Specific Recruitment for the State
Department of Assessments and Taxation, Real Property Division, Washington
County Assessments Office. The resulting eligible list will be used for this
position only. Interested persons will need to reapply for future recruitments
in this classification.

Main Purpose of Job
This position serves as the Office Manager for the
Washington County Assessments Office. The position is responsible for the
overall operation of the office, overseeing the day to day office functions, providing
guidance to subordinates and recommendations to the Assistant Supervisor of
Assessments and the Supervisor of Assessments concerning office operations.
POSITION DUTIES
Interacts with the general public, both in person and by
phone to respond to technical issues related to the assessment process,
property values and/or general office procedures.
Delegates duties to subordinate employees and monitors
workflow to ensure the timely and accurate completion of office assignments.
Trains and instructs subordinate staff on the job duties and
office procedures to follow, to ensure compliance with departmental procedures
and state regulations.
Evaluates subordinate employees to assess work quality by
regularly monitoring work performance.
Assists the Supervisor of Assessments in the development and
implementation of clerical office policy and procedures to improve clerical
office operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or
possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of clerical or technical
experience in processing assessments records and forms.
Note:
1. Additional experience performing general clerical duties
may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to 2 years of the required
education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military
service experience as a non-commissioned officer in financial administration
and program classification or financial administration and program specialty
codes in the accounting and budget field of work on a year-for-year basis for
the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific
information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience with and Knowledge of policies and practices used
in a local assessments office.
Clerical or technical experience in processing property
assessments records and forms.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Recruitment is limited to current Department of Assessments
and Taxation employees only.
Must be willing to work at the Washington County Assessments
Office.
