Main Purpose of Job

The primary function of this position is to assist FIA Case Managers in determining technical and financial eligibility and provide case management services for Family Investment Administration programs in accordance with Federal, State and local procedures. 

POSITION DUTIES

Interview customers and analyze information in order to assist in determining eligibility for Family Investment programs. At all times, the incumbent will provide customer service to both internal and external customers that meet or exceed the standards set by the Department. Assist FIA Case Managers who perform case management activities through caseload maintenance, use of automated systems, organization of materials and program knowledge to support accurate and timely issuance of benefits. This position is responsible for reviewing and screening applications for Family Investment Administration (FIA) programs; verifying and interpreting information needed to make determinations and resolve problems in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Provide quality service to all customers (internal and external) when interacting in person, by telephone or in writing according to established guidelines, interviewing and interacting with applicants/recipients to request verifications, and assisting customers in obtaining the required information necessary for Family Investment case managers to make a determination of eligibility for Benefits. This position also functions as a back-up for front desk personnel and screeners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the requires experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Six months experience using Google Docs and Google Sheets or similar software.

Six months of experience handling confidential information.

Six months experience providing customer service.

Six months experience with data entry.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service is required prior to hire.
