Introduction

This is a position Specific Recruitment for the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, Real Property Division, Prince George's County Assessments Office.  The resulting eligible list will be used for this position only.  Interested persons will need to reapply for future recruitments in this classification.


Recruitment is limited to current State Department of Assessments and Taxation employees only.

POSITION DUTIES

To have full supervisory responsibility for lower level clerical employees in diverse clerical duties which support agency operations. This is done by establishing priorities, organizing clerical work, monitoring work performance, disseminating written materials and providing on the job training.

Supervises activities of clerical staff, by establishing goals, coordinate work priorities and evaluate subordinate employees by regularly monitoring work flow and work to insure the timely and accurate completion of office assignments. Develops, recommends and implements modifications of clerical operations and procedures to improve efficiency.


Trains and instructs subordinate staff on job duties and office policies to insure compliance with departmental procedures and state regulation and policies by distributing written materials, conducting staff meetings and providing on the job training.


Responds to inquiries from attorneys, appeal representatives, government officials, other agencies, the general public  and resolve problems  related to the assessment process.


Compile statistics for AIMS reports. Following established departmental procedures maintains the assessable base and reconciles it with the office of the Comptroller. Use computer software application to design, edit or format reports, graphs and charts.


Approves leave and signs time reports.


Performs other job duties as may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3.Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for year basis for the required experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired or Preferred

Experience supervising employees, training and evaluating employee performance.
Experience with customer service skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations and policies.
Experience with strong organizational, multitasking and problem solving skills.
Proficiency in Word, Excel & G Suite.

Must be willing to work in Prince George's County.
