Introduction

The Land and Materials Administration is recruiting for an Administrative Specialist in the Lead Rental Registry Program.  This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of the Environment.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting cert list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Lead Rental Property Registration Section.

The incumbent in this position receives, reviews, tracks, files, and performs data entry for incoming Lead Rental Registry registrations, renewals and fees. This position is part of a customer service team handling telephone calls, emails, and correspondences from property owners, property managers, tenants, and other parties related to the Lead Rental Registry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: None 

Notes:   

1. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in administrative or professional work for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education. 

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies  on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate has the following:

  • Knowledge of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Law;
  • Knowledge of the Public Information Act (PIA);
  • Customer Service Experience (phone calls/emails).
  • Experience in Scanning/indexing documents.
  • Experience with entering data into databases.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum (and selective) qualifications will be included in further evaluation.  The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of this position.  Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work.  Clearly indicate your college degree and major on your application, if applicable.  Please note that you will be required by the appointing agency to provide proof upon hire of all certifications, licenses, educational and work experiences.
