Main Purpose of Job

Promotes achievement of CRBC program’s missions and goals by 1. Assisting with planning, organizing and implementing a variety of statewide community recruitment activities. 2. Assisting with planning, organizing and facilitating volunteer member orientation and activities. 3. Responsible for pre and post review support activities for volunteer member review boards in Baltimore City.

POSITION DUTIES

- Completes data entry and other support duties for statewide Citizens Review Boards within timeframes established by State Board, Administrative Team and COMAR.
- Monitors CRBC volunteer application, appointment and reappointment processes via telephone, e-mail and internet. 
- Prepares high volume of letters inviting parents, children foster parents and professionals and other interested parties to review meetings using database software and merge function of word processing software.
- Plans and coordinates CRBC events and outreach as needed for volunteer activities, recruitment, staff and volunteer development and training Data entry of volunteer attendance, monitor and provide attendance report updates.
- Organizes and prepares for meetings by organizing conference room distributing materials to committee/team members prior to meeting date, and setting up conference calls. 
- Performs other duties as needed to accomplish CRBC mission, goals and objectives established by State Board.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Notes:  

1. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in administrative or professional work for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies  on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:  

  • Experience working with volunteers. 
  • Experience working with computer software, i.e.: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Publisher. 
  • Excellent communication skill.  
  • Skill in planning, organizing, coordinating and supervising programs and activities involving large groups.
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare programs.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Successful candidates will be placed on the employment (eligible) list.  The resulting list may be used for future vacancies with this agency or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
