POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of administrative duties for the Barrack Commander, Assistant Barrack Commander, Criminal Section Commander as well as uniformed and civilian personnel assigned to the Prince Frederick Barrack. This includes compiling data and preparing statistical reports, preparing and composing correspondence - to include press releases, and communicating with Department personnel, allied law enforcement agencies and the public.

The Prince Frederick Barrack is a 'full-service' barrack responsible primarily for Calvert County. All work is executed in a largely unsupervised fashion and necessitates a strong understanding of Agency Rules and Regulations, ability to organize complex programs, and write well.


Process approved Incident Reports and ensure that they are separated and disseminated to appropriate offices, possibly including, but not limited to, the States Attorney's Office, District/Circuit Courts, Juvenile Justice, Department of Social Services, Central Records, etc.

Process Criminal, Civil and Traffic Citations per Agency regulations and Court requirements. 

Prepare and disseminate weekly press releases regarding cases investigated and arrests made by barrack personnel as deemed appropriate by the Detective Sergeant. 

Utilizing statistical data, prepare analytical reports and maps relating to criminal and traffic incident trends. Post and distribute prepared information to barrack personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Have experience performing administrative duties with law enforcement or a law enforcement agency.


2. Have experience performing administrative duties at the municipal, county, state or federal levels of government.


3. Have experience drafting and typing administrative correspondence endorsements, reports and letters?

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned

SELECTION PROCESS

The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
