Main Purpose of Job

This position analyzes data, work plans, and employment goals to ensure customers receive their required employment activities and removing barriers to employment. This individual is responsible for placing customers in job readiness and employment activities. Enters, monitors, and reviews work information entered on WORKS and the Client Automated Resource and Eligibility System (CARES) to ensure information is accurate in both systems. The Work Activity Coordinator will support the customer through the employment process to ensure they get the support and resources necessary to obtain and maintain employment. The Work Activity Coordinator will seek out any training and experience that is necessary for the customer to obtain a career. This position will continually meet with the customer to review the progress of the plan and to build a relationship full of trust and encouragement.

POSITION DUTIES

Reviews, analyzes and monitors all reports that have employment information or data on customers used to monitor their search for employment and all their employment related activities as well as removing barriers to employment. Such information/data can be retrieved from WORKS, CARES, Data Watch, and ECMS. This position will review all necessary information that has an impact on application compliance and Family Investment performance measures. Reviews Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) cases in CARES and in WORKS in insuring cases have been coded accurately in both systems. Makes sure all performance measures must be met. Contacts customers on a regular basis to see how their employment efforts are going. Provides incentives, update Independence Plans, and makes recommendations to case managers as needed. Tracks all contracts and narrate all actions.  Builds relationships with customers while supporting the team goals and making a positive and improving their employability. Provides job retention services as needed and required. Must support a customer up to one year after employment is obtained. Works closely with customers to remove any barriers or obstacles in the way of the customer being successful at their place of employment. Attends community outreach events including: Job fairs, career fairs, partner meeting sessions, job readiness training for customers, events sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, career planning events, and any other event that supports our employment efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  

Experience: None 

Note: 

1.  Professional or technical experience in the administration of a human services program or experience conducting studies and analyses of programs, procedures, practices and organizations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Administrative Officer classifications or Administrative Officer specialty codes in the General, Administrative, Clerical, and Office Services job field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
