POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is plans, organizes, and directs all activities of the food service facility within in the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center, including the satellite food service for the DJS Day and Evening Reporting Center. This position supports the mission of the agency by providing safe, nutritious and appetizing meals and snacks for youth housed at Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center and satellite sites.

The incumbent in this position directs all activities of the food service operation at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center, and satellite sites. This person will also be responsible for DJS food service policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Child Nutrition Program. This incumbent will manage food service employee scheduling and will manage several lower level food service managers and supervisors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experience managing large-scale food service operations in an institutional, commercial, industrial or similar organization.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience supervising in a large-scale food service operation on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the food service management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with procurement using FMIS is highly desired
Experience working with the State Procurement Regulation is highly preferred
Experience implementing Federal Child Nutrition standards is highly preferred
