POSITION DUTIES

This position will coordinate administrative activities in the office of the Chief Executive Officer, thus allowing the CEO to attend to critical managerial tasks which directly impact the operations of MCE Business Units and ultimately the Mission of the agency. 

  • Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates various programs projects as assigned, or approved by the CEO. 
  • Various administrative duties including the handling of all incoming mail/written correspondence; prepares written correspondence for signature of CEO; distributes/assigns/investigates/delegates/files correspondence as appropriate; plans and schedules meetings.  
  • Duties also include acting as the Public Information Officer for MCE and working closely with the Communications Office within the Office of the Secretary and the MCE Marketing Department to disseminate information to the media and the public.  
  • These duties include the proper response to information requested through the Public Information Act.
  • Duties require continuous interaction with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Excellence in telephone, email, report writing and customer service skills is a must. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. 
Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work. 
Notes: 
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.  
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience. 
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience. 

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
One year of experience in public speaking or formal group instruction.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
1. Experience developing and assessing reporting outcomes utilizing Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
2. Experience responding to Public Information Act requests and/ or media requests.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
