Introduction

The Land and Materials Administration is recruiting for an Administrator I.  This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of the Environment.  This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for this position/function only.  The resulting cert list will be maintained for one year.  Persons interested in future vacancies within this classification must re-apply.

This position is limited to permanent and contractual employees of the Maryland Department of the Environment only.

Main Purpose of Job

The Administrator I in the Budget and Fund Management Section is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks to include: accounts receivable, tracking special fund accrued revenue reconciliation, grant management of assigned grants, assisting with federal fund management, maintaining the FORTIS electronic data management system, Central Collection Unit referrals and prior year encumbrance reconciliation.  The position will also assist with LMA's budget preparation and Fiscal year-end closeout.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

It is preferred that the selected candidate has the following:

  • Experience with FMIS;
  • Experience tracking fund revenue;
  • Experience with Access databases;
  • Experience with FORTIS electronic data management system;
  • Experience in accounts receivable.

Limited to permanent and contractual employees of the Maryland Department of the Environment.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
