POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to ensure equal opportunity in all areas of employment and service delivery, fulfill the regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which states that each state agency and department must designate an individual to serve as the Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator, to develop, implement and ensure compliance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Program.

In addition, the person holding this position functions as an Equal Opportunity Compliance Officer executing the mission of the Department of Human Resources’ Office of Employment and Program Equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet all minimum (AND SELECTIVE; please see next section) qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.

EXPERIENCE: Eight years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

NOTES:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Two years of experience in EEO or Civil Rights investigations

Two years of experience in EEO report writing and in CONDUCTING trainings on topics related to discrimination and EEO in the workplace

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Two years of experience using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Knowledge of federal and State EEO and Civil Rights laws and statutes, including but not limited to, Title VII Civil Rights Act of 1964; ADA; State Personnel and Pensions Article § 2-203.1; § 5-2 and § 5-3; and State government Article Title 20. 

Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
