POSITION DUTIES

The Revenue Administration Division is seeking a friendly, highly organized administrative professional who wants to play a critical role supporting the Division's senior management team and who will be responsible for facilitating personnel matters for a Division of over 250 employees. The position is located in beautiful Annapolis, within walking distance to all that downtown Annapolis has to offer.

Responsibilities include facilitating the recruiting and onboarding of permanent and temporary seasonal employees, managing employee contracts, collecting and presenting information and reports for the directors, providing direction and assistance to division managers with regard to personnel matters, and providing overall administrative support for the members of the Director’s office in support of the Division’s mission. Great people skills and the ability to handle a variety of tasks are the keys to success in this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of experience working with the State of Maryland's Workday system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook applications.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
  2. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. This background check is comprehensive and may involve fingerprinting. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six- month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
