POSITION DUTIES

To schedule, oversee and perform maintenance and repair of all motorized, automotive, marine, all-terrain, heavy and insecticide dispersal equipment assigned to the mosquito control program on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Maintains Mosquito Control shop at the Salisbury Office.

Schedules and performs maintenance of outboard motors, all-terrain vehicles, trailers, one heavy equipment amphibious excavator, hydraulic larvicide sprayers, and other various insecticide sprayers.

Schedules and maintains all records of oil changes and lubrication, tire repairs and replacement, tune-ups and diagnostic testing using computer technology.

Inspects automotive and other equipment to determine the extent and type of service or repair work necessary.

Maintains Mosquito Control Shop, monitors inventory, prepares supply orders and unloads deliveries.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: Four years of experience servicing, maintaining and repairing of motor vehicles or motor equipment two years of which must have involved responsibility for performing major automotive repair work.

Notes:

1. Graduation from an accredited vocational/technical high school with a major in automotive mechanics, or a related field, may be substituted for up to three years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Mechanic classifications or Automotive Maintenance Technician and Vehicle Maintenance specialty codes in the Mechanic or Maintenance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in maintenance and service of boats, boat trailers and outboard motors.

Experience in maintenance and repair of two and four-stroke small gas engines.

Experience in using electronic diagnostic and testing equipment.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.

Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
