This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Police. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

LOCATION OF POSITION

580 Taylor Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401 (Anne Arundel County)

POSITION DUTIES

This position will provide general administrative work for the Field Operations Program by performing daily general administrative and fiscal support related to budgets, procurement, contract management, tele-communications, grant management, state corporate card program and development of critical maintenance needs at field office locations, etc. The position will also require knowledge and experience using State of Maryland financial system FMIS, including ADPICS and RSTARS. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google and related software is also an essential aspect of this position. Duties include but are not limited to approving and monitoring budgetary expenditures and assisting in the monitoring of grants/agreements with other Federal and State Departments/Agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

Applicants not using the education substitution, must have one year of experience performing job duties related to the fields of procurement, grant and financial accounting systems.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience using FMIS and ADPICS.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google.

Experience reviewing and analyzing purchase requisitions and determining the minimum vendor requirements and the most appropriate procurement method to use, in accordance with State Procurement laws, regulations and procedures.

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, staff of other agencies and the general public.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
