POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for assisting the Veterans Home Program Director in providing oversight of the clinical services provided to the residents through a management contract with a private management company. This position will ensure, through contract monitoring and compliance, that each resident receives the medical, dental, rehabilitative, pharmaceutical, or other clinical services that are required by State Regulations. This position will also serve as a grant writer to support improvements to the Veterans Home through the USDVA Construction Grant Program for State Veterans Homes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years in the Medical option.  One year of experience in the Medical option must have been in a supervisory, administrative, consultative or teaching capacity.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university for two years of the required general experience.

2. Candidates may substitute two years of additional experience as a Registered Nurse in the Medical option for the  required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations affecting comprehensive, nursing home and assisted living settings.
2. Ability to research, compile, organize and evaluate nursing home systems, practices or approaches to improve performance and quality care that enhance daily quality of life of residents. 
3. Experience in the use of and monitoring of electronic medical records. 
4. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
